Hey guys. Some of you know I make a bit of my living as a writer. I've had a semi-popular Daddy blog for a while now, I thought I'd share it here. If you're a parent, you might get a laugh out of some of the entries. http://www.thehandsondad.com/10-pieces- ... d-to-know/That's the latest. It's a light and fluffy piece about the top 10 things parents of my generation shouldn't feel the need to share with their kids. Enjoy -- and if you do, don't forget to click LIKE, SHARE, TWEET OR WHATEVER.

I see a lot of people posting on their "public" circle on G+ a brief summary of each article they write and a link to the article. It will get you more exposure from everyone doing searches on the site.
(and starting today G+ is now integrated into mainstream google searching as well)

generally unless you want to restrict access to a specific audience you want to use "public".
"extended circles" is useful once in a while to try and broaden your audience by sending people who don't follow you some content, but I think most of your public posts should be "public" because:
1) folks coming to your profile may not see anything otherwise 2) only "public" posts show up in non-personal google searches
Another great way to expand your audience on G+ is to comment in other posts. That will attract people who read the comments and click on your profile. I have about 1700 followers on G+ as of now, and I often see the count go up after I've commented on someone else's post.
Ashman, if you having trouble finding new people on G+ try doing a search (and following people who match up) it works very well now.

Here is today's kids say the darnedest things. My wive tells me a lady at the store was talking and singing to her dog. My 8 yr old turns to my wife and says "mommy, do you know that disease called retard? I think that lady suffers from it." Times like that are easy enough to just take a moment to explain in a nice way what it all means. Except for the fact kids have no sense of volume and you now have to explain with the lady glaring at you.

A new installment today: http://www.thehandsondad.com/kindergarten-report-card/Quote: It’s odd to think that life is now measured summer to summer rather than January 1st to January 1st. Having a 1st grader in the backseat is also a reminder that while filling up any given Saturday with a bored child can seem a Herculean task, filling up a year in his life is virtually effortless. Don't forget, people who SHARE this on their own facebook page get 10000000 DKP (or a new hat, isn't that what you TF2 guys like?)

Quote: Me: “Uh. Thanks, honey. But that’s my private area, so that’s just for me, just like your private area is just for you.” My son called it "privacy". He was going through musical birthday cards and fell out on the floor laughing uncontrollably. It was Michael Jacksons somebodies watching me.....and I've got no privacy. Daddy! Who says that?

I liked the article, but found that though you had the target in site...you missed it...by "THIS Much". Let me digest it a bit more...maybe I can figure out what I found to be missing.

Okay, I don't usually jump on the bandwagon and do topical stuff but I got asked to write something about Boston from a parents point of view and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Thought I'd share. Can We Blame The Parents?

Nice work. It brought back memories of the different people I've been around over the years and what type of parents they had in relation to how they behaved. It does seem odd or even scary to think that some of the worst people had the nicest parents who went way beyond to help and had no effect whatsoever. Now going through I do see a pattern or tendency if I were going to generalize. The two guys with the most forgiving bend over backwards parents were full on criminals. One shot and killed at age 27, the other paralyzed from neck down during police car chase in his 20's. Died a few years back. Two brothers seemed to be almost ignored by seemingly nice parents. One died in an alcohol related car crash at 22 and the other self inflicted .38 to the head at 25. Imagine losing both sons over a 3yr period. A friend named Stephanie who was also ignored took her life via pills at 16 after finding out she was pregnant. On the other side were the guys who went on to be good family men and regularly volunteer in the community etc. All were from single mom lower income type homes. Family and personal responsibility were strong. They always seemed to have more chores and complain the least. Fortunately I have a rule follower who is a truly nice person despite my suggestions/actions. He won't even use "bad words" if he is alone. Puts others first. Buys licorice or popcorn for kids who don't have money on that day. Yep, his school has licorice/popcorn day of Fridays. His friend was bulling another kid at the park so he made him stop and then told us he didn't want to be Davids friend anymore because he is a bully. Now I'm just rambling, so I'll stop now.
