Well I just bought the Portal 2 + Potato Sack Pack and am waiting for Portal 2 to be released. I loved the first game and I'm looking forward to playing this one. Also, since the game has multi-player would anyone be interested in trying that out?

I just hope my laptop of power can actually handle Portal 2....

I'm looking forward to this one as well, although I'll probably get it for my PS3.

Hi guys - you may want to check out this site: http://www.aperturescience.com/glados@home/

Apparently there was some kind of elaborate ARG associated with the release of Portal 2 - via the Potato Sack. It appears that the more people play the Potato Sack games, it MAY release Portal 2 earlier than Tuesday.

If anything - the Potato Sack is a good deal on a few throw-away games to while away the time - and it includes Amnesia-The Dark Descent...

Not bad for a little game that they just threw into the Orange Box, almost as an afterthought... LOL

See you all there!

Ash, I just noticed Amazon has preorders for the PS3 that come with a $20 Amazon credit. Not games credit, Amazon credit. Buy anything you want with it. That brings the game to $34.99 ;)

I have a modded 360 so I will probably get it that way. I didn't play the first one, so I might play that one first to bide my time until the second one comes out. Justin says that the first one is amazing.

If you buy it for PS3, you get a playable copy for PC/steam as well. You don't get the TF2 pin or other related promos, but that's your promo already: you get a free copy for PC.

And yes I'm going to play multiplayer co-op, but not with you Al. I actually want to beat the levels, not babysit.

What's funny is I figured their plan from the start was to release it at midnight (they've done that with a few games before, without the ARG or potato games marketing ploy). So this time, they pretended the release was sometime around noon and made the fake CPU game to "speed things up" when really, a midnight release is common for Steam games nowadays.

That was my theory and if the game was released PRIOR to Tuesday, I would've eaten my own crow. But instead, it just seems like it'll be a normal midnight release. It's like when there's a big 10% off sale, but the retailer marked up all the prices so that the 10% doesn't affect them at all. Valve said Portal would release "earlier" if everyone played those games, but it was just a big marketing ploy to get attention, and the game will release at it's REAL usual time of 12:01am on Tuesday.

Well done, potatoheads.

Yep - the "clock" is at less than an hour now - so looking like 9:30ish PT... but hey - now we all can say we had the experience of playing a game where the main character was basically a sentient piece of hamburger.

The co-op is a blast. Just don't play with randoms. I would play though single player first. I can honestly say, I have never laughed so much while playing a video game.

I agree, single player done and some co-op done, what a hilarious game. I took longer than most due to listening to speech forever. Not a spoiler ahead, don't worry: there was one point where the solution to the puzzle was pretty simple, but I stood around listening to a character talk for what seemed like maybe 4 or 5 minutes. They kept going on and on. There were a few times I moved on too quickly and cut off a character's ramblings because it triggered the next story-based line of speech. There are so many funny things in this game, and well told story, I couldn't run through only solving puzzles.

I wonder how they treat co-op with different people? I have only played with Earl so far, but I'm open to any RH really (not Alfire 8) ).

I'm hoping that since they added almost the whole item system from TF2, that they plan to update new co-op levels regularly. It makes no since to have hats, trading, backpack, and a store unless there's more reasons to come back. Maybe community made maps patched in regularly. Still don't know if it's drops in co-op or rewards. If they do this I hope they're free. That would definitely get PS3 users to install it on PC. Even if they sell them as long as they're nice and big and reasonably priced I'll buy them.

Really want to see some competitive mods come out of co-op. Might have to stay 1v1 to be fun and not confusing. I'm super excited to see what mods do with Portal 2.

Post subject:  Re: Portal 2

There is no Portal 2 SDK yet, so for now that all seems unlikely. However I can imagine Valve releasing more maps, as I agree that having a giant backpack with trading and a store is a bit much if they have no plans to support. The coop levels are finite, unlike something like TF2 where you can replay the same maps over and over with lots of people and have a use for the things you bought or got from drops, such as hats.

I've only gotten 2 drops so far, and one of them is definitely from completing single player. One I got after I played some co-op. I don't know how to get my TF2 hats into the game, but the forums have a lot of people saying they've gotten various hats from TF2 into Portal, but only certain ones.

Is that the same for the Xbox version?

That wasn't actually an answer Al, but thanks I guess. Tons of people were getting the hats in Portal 2 since release. Valve announcing that it's supposed to happen answers nothing. I booted up P2 and I still don't have my hats (yes I have all those TF2 hats they listed minus the yellow belt).

Sorry BlankBB, it's only for PS3. It's not to screw 360 players, it's because Sony allowed Steam to work on PS3. Microsoft did not allow any interactivity with Steam and Xbox Live, so Valve couldn't do any cross platform stuff there, so no deal for 360.

Nah I don't want to mess with your post, but if you want to know how to get an associates account going just let me know. It's simple, probably simpler for you than me since you're more tech savvy. I'm dying to see someone make some decent cash with it

I already applied for one, which they say takes 1-3 days to approve.

I am not going to run a commerce site, however, just wanted it to provide links from time to time and get a few bucks out of it. I get more money from Google Adsense.
