Nope. TGS is going on right now, lots of games being announced. Some stand outs people might have missed:

Asura's Wrath

Enslaved is releasing soon. Ninja Theory could be onto something. As for their reboot of Devil May Cry, I don't like the look of Dante, but we'll see how it plays.

I am eagerly counting the days till Dead Rising 2 is out on September 28. I've got it preordered on Steam if anyone else is getting it on pc! $40 duder.

What I don't understand is the near cult following for halo. I played the orginal halo that started it all. I was not impressed. it's a good game, but is it THAT great? I say no. The only innovative is the shield Regeneration and only allowed to carry two weapons at a time. other than that... i give it an 8/10. same for halo reach.. was not impressed.

So I *shouldn't* buy an Xbox 360 just for Halo?

Fallout Vegas baby!

PS - You can make these separate threads, otherwise I didn't need to make a whole forum haha!

Buy MKE...

I worked on Halo:PC which was based on the first one and in Halo:Reach they have given that excellent pistol back to the players.

Halo IS the most balanced console FPS ever. I have played a bunch of FPS on consoles (due to my game test contracts) and NOTHING comes close to Halo in terms of balance. There is NO overpowered weapons, nor overpowered abilities. Considering Halo:Reach is the 4th game in the series, Bungie has everything tuned to perfection. Just play it in multiplayer and every other console FPS will pale...Z just sucks at the game so he doesn't like it... :2fer:

Keyword. CONSOLE. which are inferior by nature. You get much more mileage on PC games compared to your console counterparts. TF2 is an excellent example. You also have less jackmonkies to deal with online as well.

I also can't stand this autoaim or "bending" bullets crap that console FPS has also.

You probably shouldn't make unsubstantiated claims, Z. Makes you look like you have no idea what you're talking about and are just being sensationalist. Consoles are inferior by nature? You can't just say that. I know you're young, so take a logic class. I'm not attacking you, but you need to familiarize yourself with bad arguments and logical fallacies.

Just because I prefer TF2 over Halo doesn't mean Halo sucks. It's got a lot of good stuff about it but, for one, I'm more into class based shooting after years and years of UT and UT 2004. There's a lot of stuff in Halo that appeals to a wide range of tastes, and as Jinxter said, it's quite well balanced (except for some maps having one isolated spot with a sniper rifle and no one can find him as he takes down everyone). They have a nice dynamic with the shields and plasma based weapons. Grenades are more integrated than most shooters and are quicker to use. Halo 3 and now Reach also have a very deep set of options for setting up your own games types, and even building your own maps. There's a ranking system and top of the line matchmaking system, almost guaranteeing that you will find a game with people near your level rather than super skilled players owning noobs all day long (although that can happen if you join a friend and you are two very different in skill). There's a lot going on there. To say you didn't like a game so therefore you don't see what's so good about it, it makes you seem very unaware or unwilling to even debate a topic and just troll instead. Don't be a troll.

You have a point about the slight auto-aim that Halo has though, although I can see why it's there. I believe you can turn that off though. The best Halo players are as good as the best pc FPS players with the gamepad, so I feel like turning off autoaim is either an option or they have found a good way to work with that. There isn't really any bending bullets, especially if you snipe (no auto aim on that).

We have you as our jackmonkey and thats all we need, Z. :50cal:

No and will not buy. I want a new Prime game, since for some reason I don't really like the 2d games and that is what this new Metroid is

True. I am a pretty awesome Jackmonkey.

Gel you came out swinging with this post! Fighting words. I prefer to be a mix of a sensationalist and a lack of general knowledge about console (since I do not own any of the current generation consoles. The newest console is a dreamcast.)

Halo is a good game and i enjoy playing it, but i still don't feel the fanfare. (this is speaking purely through the single player campaign and not the multilayer.)

Unfortunately you cannot turn off the built in auto aim. ALL console shooters have built in cheats to allow for the controller to "feel" as accurate as keyboard/mouse. (NOTE: I do not want the to devolve into an argument for/against or controller vs keyboard/mouse...I worked in the industry, I was a software test engineer and I know that there has to be cheats in order for the controller to come close to the accuracy you get with keyboard/mouse...don't believe me, fine...feel free to be an ignorant boob.)

The inherent deadzone in the analog sticks means that the controller can NEVER be as accurate as a mouse/keyboard combination...as such, software 'cheats' have to be programmed into the game to allow the controller to "feel" as accurate as a mouse/keyboard. As long as your reticule is close to your target, your shots/bullets/lasers WILL curve to the target. This is how most headshots are possible in console FPS games.

Here is a real-world example...while testing an FPS console shooter, we asked the lead programmer to allow one of the builds (an early version of the game) to have all of the console 'cheat' programs to be turned off. As during all of our nightly free-for-all matches, the console guys and the PC guys were always dead even in regards to scores. So, thinking this might be interesting to see, he allowed one of the nightly builds to have all of the console 'cheats' to be turned off to see what the outcomes would be. Anyone on the PC, regardless of their skill level was able to beat EVERYONE who was using a controller. NONE of the console players (to include some Halo pro-players) was able to come close to leading in any game category that night. Their accuracy just wasn't there...they pretty much had to rely on spray and pray to get any kills.

Console controller sticks have a built in dead-zone...if I remember correctly it is roughly a 3% deadzone in which you have to move to stick roughly 1.5% of it's axis before the device registers the stick to have moved. This is something that HAS to be accounted for on any controller. In most console games, just move your control stick very slow and notice that nothing happens until you move the stick a certain distance before anything happens. This was VERY noticeable when the lead programmer did the nightly build without any of the console 'cheat' programs. The console specialists (that night) kept mentioning that there was noticeable lag between them moving and any reaction from the game.

Without the auto-aim and other 'cheat' or 'assist' programs, FPS games with a controller would suck. With these cheats/assists, FPS games with a controller are possible and accuracy approaches and feels like mouse/keyboard.
