Gel's Gifting Extravaganza, TONIGHT Friday Dec 16!

It's that time of year again! Remember when I gave Z that heavy hair last year? He still wears it! Everyone else without special gifts got keys (and crates).

Well Valve has upped the ante this year by locking new weapons to crates for a week! Well that just makes it almost pay2play, so what can we do?

Gel's Gifting Extravaganza, TONIGHT on Friday Night Fights, turns into Holiday fun! Be on the server tonight for free keys, crates, and random hats and stuff from my backpack!

You better be there because my gifting mood may disappear by Saturday!!

Awesome time last night, Chuuw even gave me one of those sniper rifles with the Christmas lights as a gift. I'm beginning to think it was merely a tactic to distract me though, now I can't stop staring at the lights.

Instead of giving keys and gifts to everyone randomly, I posed [hopefully] fun challenges to everyone on the server. Since some folks missed it and have been curious, here is what ensued.

All the challenges were ongoing, unless otherwise noted.

Challenge: Get MVP for the current round (only valid if I declared it that round, active 6 times that night)
Result: 6 winners (FUBAR, DANE, chuuw, some pub, and I won twice)

Challenge: Dominate DANE
Result: 1 winner (Carl Weathers)
Note: That's right. All night, only one person managed to dominate DANE. This could've been an easy one; he was a heavy all night.

Challenge: Beat DANE in a duel (I never healed him, as I played pyro all night)
Result: 0 winners (at least 6 duels took place, I lost count)

Challenge: Taunt kill any RH or DANE clan member
Result: A losing pub managed to taunt kill [RH]Warning during humiliation. Very humiliating for Warning. Very.
Note: He got a hat for this instead of a key because he didn't know what keys were used for. So I asked him if a hat was okay and he said yes. Also, quite a few pubs were taunt killed, but only Warning managed to shame RH.

Challenge: Airblast jinxter off the cliff AND grab a replay of it, active on the plr_hightower map, repeated on pl_frontier
Result: 1 winner (FUBAR during hightower)
Note: This challenge was only issued for those two maps mentioned.

There might have been another challenge, I forget. Definitely no more winners though.

Honorable mention/good sport holiday key awarded to Jinxter for counter-airblasting many wannabe pyros off the cliff.

In total, 9 keys were awarded, and 1 hat. Congrats to everyone and I hope you had fun even if you didn't win something. Holiday crates were opened and the server enjoyed seeing the contents. We should do this again soon. Maybe we can all pitch in various things from our backpacks and come up with silly challenges. We'll make it an event, draw in players, and enjoy mocking people who leave duels early when they know they are about to lose to DANE.

I don't recall getting a key? Wait, I don't recall dominating Dane either...

No mention of my MVP on Badwater?! I see how it is.

I got a key from you for doing something. Maybe it was Carl's key. It's easy to mix up pasty white guys.

*edit* Oh and Santa Park will randomly show up sometime this week. Keep that server full and keep reaching for the stars.

I have a few of those festive crates. Don't know if they're worth anything but since they expire and I'll never, ever buy a key, I may as well put 'em up as gifts.

Haha, sorry BloodRed, and Park, I was listing it by memory and forgot about those. Maybe Carl's was Parkmad though, I know someone managed to dominate DANE briefly, but I guess it wasn't Carl.

They are a ploy, but last year Valve did give everyone a "stocking stuffer" key to open any crate they wanted to. Maybe we can expect a similar event this year, although it's hard to say, since it's easy to make multiple free accounts now.

I did wish I had the Santa hat, maybe Park should wear one when he gives stuff out.

EDIT: Well, valve just updated, so nevermind, looks like we get gifts this year, but no free keys.

If you want to arrange something like this again, I have some stuff to give that I don't use...
I have a Strange Frontier Justice and a Strange Jag that I never use along with a Strange Brass Beast.
As for hats, I have a Stout Shako that I never use for the Soldier I can give to the cause.

Yeah, we can pool stuff together and have one person do the awarding, or just do it at our own leisure. Either way works.

One more challenge I forgot about: I challenged everyone to backstab Warning within 2 seconds after clearly saying "Warning!" in his accent. No one did this. I don't think anyone even attempted it. Maybe next time!
