Well, I was just joking about "yes offense" but no, I didn't make the call for you to play soldier anyway. Max was in charge of making all the calls there. Speaking of Max, he's the best soldier on our roster, so we can't take him away from that.

If everyone could join the ugc pub scrim group we could much more easily set up scrims with other teams. Also, great job on the win team I'm looking forward to many, many more this season. Our next match is ctf_doublecross so lets try playing that map a lot this week. Also, we need to make sure ctf_impact2 is added to the map rotation list because we will be playing it in a few weeks. If anyone has any questions or comments hit me up on steam and I'll do my best to answer them.

Update 1
Scrim against [MFU] on Saturday 1/22 at 7pm PST, but be online at 6pm or earlier. We will be playing badlands first and then coldfront (neither match is this coming weeks match, but they are both regular season matches).

Update 2
This Thusday we will face the [Axl] team which is the team that beat us in the etf2l highlander challenge around 8pm PST....they pull people on a whim and don't make set times so be ready to go at anytime. We will play doublecross which is this coming week's match and maybe something else if they feel up for it. See all of you then.

I do not agree with this irresponsibility. If they know it'll be Thursday, they should have a set time as well. If their lives are so amazingly volatile then they should not play. Perhaps there can be a time set as Thursday approaches.

Although I am not officially signed up, if you ever need subs for demo, spy, or sniper and I am online message me and I can probably fill in for the scrims. :D

I wanted to ask two questions to all of you...How many nights a week do you want to have scrims and what days do you want to have them on? I'm pretty sure I've found enough team leaders to set up a scrim every night of the week if all of you wanted to, but that would get rid of Friday Night Retro Highlights (and I can't let that happen) and take away from other pub play nights. If all of you could get back to me within the next few days I'll start setting up scrims to what all of you decide.

I reserve Friday and Saturday for the pub server...these are the 2 days that we have traditionally played on our server. I can scrim basically Mon - Thur. Sundays could go either way...though I would also prefer that day for our server as well...Most of us work for a living and have traditionally used the weekends to come here, hang out and shoot/yell/scream at each other and have fun. Scrims are cool and all, but not the same...

Any day for me, although I'll express a preference against Wednesdays since I usually play board games that night. I'd say we should do 2-3 per week, on days that minimize the impact to the pub server (so probably not Friday or Saturday...)

Three scrims this week
  1. Scrim 1: Thursday 8pm PST against We Pwn Everything
  2. Scrim 2: Saturday 8pm PST against Be Right Back, Uninstalling
  3. Scrim 3: Sunday 8pm PST against Ess Two

A few notes, we lost to Be Right Back, Uninstalling in week 1. Also, sorry about that Jinxter it being on Saturday hopefully though it is early enough to not fully damper your night. Finally, our third scrim this week will be figuring out all of our weaknesses to the max. Why you may ask? Well, as Earl showed me they have two level players carnage and relic that are really good, so lets try our best to win all these scrims and upcoming match.

Also, note that we're playing badlands so the mid fight is most important. I'm proposing that we only practice mid fights in one of our scrims. I'm already practicing the demo jumps to mid, and anyone who might play soldier should watch this vid and practice as well:

I just talked with the team we are facing this week and wondered if you would like to make our match on Sunday at 7:00pm PST or 8:00pm PST and cancel the scrim we have at that time. If we don't cancel the scrim on Sunday it is looking like we will have our match at the normal match time of 5:30pm PST on Monday.

Tonight's scrim is canceled....for some reason their team leader who I set the scrim with did not tell a single person on their team about it  and is offline right now so I can't yell at him. Sorry everyone, I'll try to make sure Saturday's scrim will actually happen.

Since it seems most of you will not be able to make Monday at 5:30pm...I have set the match to be at 7pm PST Sunday!

I'm going to go ahead and cancel this one as well...their team leaders did not respond and most of their teammates are offline. Remember the match is TOMORROW (SUNDAY) at 7PM PST please be online a half hour to an hour early.

Pretty much yeah. I think our main problem is that we don't stick together and push as team. It also doesn't help that all we never play 5 point Capture point maps and we're constantly playing Payload and Payload race maps on our pub server.

We just need to be playing maps like Badlands more often.

We have played Badlands off and on but it's not about the map. It's about our gameplay. Our preferred gameplay support strategies on PL maps.

As you say Blood, we need to learn to stay together as a group. At minimum, the medic, heavy, and either the demo or solly need to push together. Advances on a point should coincide with an uber, etc.

We are not patient enough and we don't play together.

So far, the only round we won on Badlands in competition was the one where we went all out and rushed the center. It worked like a dream...I went under the bridge, got behind the opposing team, and lit all 5 at point on fire...our Soldier and Demo, blew the crap out of all of them. We capped the middle, and rushed their 2nd, with their 1st to fall shortly after. We attempted the same thing again, only they adapted and actually waited on us, and we over-reached and we lost quickly.

Main things I have noticed...we do NOT harass the enemy medic enough. Nor do we kill the enemy medic quick enough...we are almost always having to fall back from an uber. ...then as others have mentioned, our core group of heavy classes do not stick together.

Engineer should be using the full turrets...not the mini-turrets. A team that is practiced on these maps w/good teamwork makes the mini-turrets disappear without any consequence on their parts. Scouts and Spies harassed our Medic much to effectively and their Pyros were always harassing us as well. We tend to lose the first match, then we tend to start yelling at each other instead of focusing on the goals. It is fine and dandy to keep the Pyro back with the Medic...but keep in mind the Pyro can't do what he is best at...start damage which the Soldier and Demos can finish.

We need to start aggressive and stay aggressive...when we get passive, we start to play so we don't lose...when we do this, we have already lost.

We do need practice on these types of maps, and we need to look at the vids that show the strats to win these maps. Each one I have watched, I have noticed that an aggressive/focused team tends to win it every time.
