The 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500

Fri May 27, 2016 5:29 pm

This Sunday will host the one hundredth running of the Indianapolis 500 mile race. The race began in 1911 and is raced on the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMS is a four turn oval that is 2.5 miles (4.02336 km) in length. Back in 1911 the drivers who qualified for the race sustained 75 mph on the front straight, this year the pole sitter hit over 240 mph on his speedometer qualifying. The event is completely sold out and will have over 350,000 people in attendance on race day.

The race will be on ABC at:
12:00 PM Eastern
11:00 AM Central
10:00 AM Mountain
9:00 AM Pacific

Just watch it. Below are some links about IndyCar and the race

Hey now fellow RH Wisconsinites (and RH mid-westerners), IndyCar will be at the famous Road America circuit this weekend! If you are planning on going send me a PM.

Those of you who have not purchased tickets yet there are five series this weekend racing: Verizon IndyCar Series, the entire Mazda Road to Indy Ladder (Indy Lights, Pro Mazda Championship and Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship) and the Pirelli World Challenge.

For those of you who are unfortunately unable to make it to Road America this weekend, but still want to watch the practice sessions, qualifying and race here are the broadcast times: http://motorsports.nbcsports.com/2016/06/22/here-are-your-kohler-gp-at-road-america-tv-times-on-nbcsn/

Practice 2 and 3 will be streamed on IndyCar's Youtube channel. The overall schedule for the weekend is located here: http://www.roadamerica.com/media/wysiwyg/INDY_CAR_6-21.pdf

Here is what a lap looks like from the driver's perspective:
