There have been a few people asking about how to display text, show an image/sig and/or host a sig/image in the signature space below their name.

TO ADD TEXT:

To have text show up:
1. Go into your profile (top of the forums there is an image link that says profile)

2. Scroll down to the area:
Code:
Signature:
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit

Add your text in there and then hit the OK button at the bottom of the page to save it!

TO ADD AN IMAGE ANYWHERE (POST/SIGNATURE):

You must use the [img] tag.
To get an image to show up in the forums the link to the image must be a valid http link:

e.g.
Code:
http://www.noaa.gov/images/topbanner4.jpg

to get this image to show, select that line of text and click the Img button above (B I U Quote Code List List= Img URL) that will surround that line of text with the [img]command.%20Or%20you%20can%20manually%20type%20in%20[img]%20before%20and[/img] after the link. either way it should end up like:

Code:
[img]http://www.noaa.gov/images/topbanner4.jpg[/img]

You can test this by creating a post with the code above, then hitting preview. You should see this image:

Image

When testing your sigs you can preview things as many times as you want before submitting the final post.

To put an image in your signature space, you have to add it to your signature area in your profile.

Open your profile and go to the area:
Code:
Signature:
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit

In this text block add the [img] code.

You signature should now be visible to the forums!

WHERE TO HOST A SIG/IMAGE:

If the image is not already on the web, then you will have to "host" the image somewhere. You have many options, but two popular ones are to

A. Open an account at a place like yahoo/geocities which will give you free space for a webpage. Once you sign up you can just upload the image to that space. You don't need any fancy code, the image should just be at:
http://www.geocities.com/yourname/yourimage.jpg

B. Open an account at an image hosting site like photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com). Then you sign in and upload your image there. The nice thing about this way is that they provide the complete [img] code below the image once it is uploaded.

Good luck with it and please let me know if I left anything out or something is incorrect.

MKE
