I haven't tried one of those but it looks like your hand sits forward a bit. Nice.
I'm currently putting together a rifle from parts I have. 600m target is the last qualification I need for our club range.

I am still working as an IT Specialist for the Navy here in Bremerton. Different job now and going to Japan will not happen unless I either go back to my old job or laterally transfer to a job that goes. I have been dealing with Medical issues lately. Twisted my left knee at the Mariners T-Mobile Field and its been hurting enough for me to need a brace. MRI is due in a couple of days. Hopefully I can get away with just needing some physical therapy. I have severe sleep apnea and am now being evaluated by the VA...may get the new implant as I CANNOT use the CPAP, feels like I am drowning. Also, next month, I will be evaluated by a back specialist...I have been having issues with bulging discs, however, all of the rehab exercises for the past 4 years have done shite for it. Also, there is now nerve impingement and now 'issues' that the little blue pill struggles with. Overall, things are great, medically...things are sucking.

Still working as Presidential Management Fellow and Agricultural Economist at USDA HQ in Washington, DC.

In the past couple of months, several things I've worked on have been in the (very large) hands of the President of the United States, and were used to make policy decisions that impact farmers across the midwest, so there's that.

I've got a ton of other cool, but lower profile things going on too. I'm a chapter author on an EPA report to Congress on biofuels and the environment, editing IPCC reports to the UN, and lead author, co-editor, and chapter author on a multi-year project to update USDA's GHG Inventory.

Well - I'm not doing anything nearly as impressive as Irm!

My midlife crisis is going well - basically decided that I'm 'not going to wait for ___' and am doing things I have wanted to for a long time and now have the ability to! Still single, not gaming a lot (Megawart and family are trying to get me back into WoW Classic), and taking a nice cruise once a year now (Hawai'i, Western Caribbean, Alaska) and am planning one for next year (Panama Canal I think!)

I'm currently working out of Monterey, CA as a government contractor for the DMDC (Defense Manpower Data Center) as a software development project manager - doing a blend of PM and BA work. Basically I help maintain databases that support benefits for service members and their families. It's often confusing and/or frustrating, but it's really satisfying. I love knowing that what I'm doing makes a difference.

I'm still working at the same company as I've been for ever building computer chips.

Did just finish an interesting chip. As you may, or may not know, GM is switching their entire fleet over to electric power in 2023. I just finished up the battery monitoring chip for the upcoming switch. There will be 24 of these chips in each vehicle, so a pretty big deal for my company. :D

Thanks for asking Z, although you didn't tell us what you're up to?

I wrote a book in the spring on growing weed using organic soil that's been pretty popular, especially in Australia for some odd reason. After that, I got really antsy since I had no more creative projects in sight. To feed my inner madman, I painted a room of my house black and went to England to hang with my music buddies for a week.

When I came back, I decided to upgrade my computer and start learning video production by slapping together music videos while also helping produce real estate vids for my wifey. Here's one of the later videos I did for Cynical Days by XTC:

I also produced a sinister old thing featuring narration over music and visuals. I'm not sure what that style is called, perhaps it's a style all my own. That's this video here, but be advised it might really piss you off:

From there I got really, really bored again. I eventually got so fed up with being bored that I decided to dismantle a soundbar I was throwing out and record myself taking it apart. It's one of my more popular videos for some reason, my guess being that people just want to know what's inside a soundbar:

After finally feeling competent in using my shite camera, audio recorder and software, I moved forward with an idea I'd had for a few months called Get Stoned with Ron. It's hard to describe but here's the first episode:

I have a roadmap for future episodes and am now about 50% done with episode #2, but my first episode was definitely too long with the Dateline thing so I won't be doing that again lol. I'm happy with how it turned out though, and my cousin who's written a few prominent movies was really thrilled by it and urged me to continue. I'd continue with it regardless, but it's always nice to know when people like what you create. If you care to subscribe, please know that it's going to get better and better. Only I know what's in store for the show (I don't even tell my wife what's on the show until it's completed), so stay tuned muhahaha.

If you check out my channel you'll find the other music videos, another episode of Takin' shite Apart with Ron, and some old throwaway stuff I had on my hard drive. Lots of variety.

Anyhow, that's where I'm at today. Oh, I also learned how to jump rope a few weeks ago. Thought that was cool.

Nice to see everyone finding success. Sorry about your medical stuff Jinx but I'm happy to hear you say things are great overall. Positive attitudes always win!

Awesome Carl!

I saw your stoned video and immediately thought about the show 'Getting Doug with High' that airs on Pluto TV (THC Channel).

I actually have a short film / trailer type thing that's totally unrelated but is a bit darker than that. Mod is the only person who's seen the trailer and she was really tripping out on it. It's on the backburner for now though since I'm busy doing stoner comedy stuff for my show. One day.

Regarding sunshine and rainbows, I had a music video planned for the song "Say It" by XTC that would be very upbeat, but it would all be custom shot and I don't have the time for now.

That video Delisted is my voice and bass riff. I liked the end when the bass line runs out, I didn't plan it that way but it fit real well with the visuals.

Thanks Nooobieee I love the feedback :) I've not seen that show but it sounds like Doug Benson? The title alone sounds very similar, I try to avoid cool shite when I'm creating so as not to unconsciously steal something (and to have plausible deniability). Case in point: the first short story in Lunch Special has been compared to John Wick. However, I've never seen John Wick and I now refuse to watch it so I can always be pure in my claim to have never seen it lol.

Stay tuned I've got more episodes to come and they'll be much shorter (~8-15 mins). The Dateline thing was a one off that I had to follow through with since I'd already baked it into my commentary. I'm a one man zero budget show so it's impossible to go backwards for certain edits.

Btw I think you'd like the politics in my Lunch Special story called "Murder, American Style", as well as the included interview "Freewheelin' with Ron Johnson". We probably have more political overlap than you think ;) The person who tanked my reviews and personally insulted me probably took great offense to that story lmao.

Thanks again for the feedback dude.

Yep, Doug Benson.

I think every great artist is inspired by others! It's all part of learning the craft. Unless you think you're copying someone, I wouldn't worry about what other people think.

Yeah I understand that, I'm certainly inspired through the years by people like Andy Partridge, Abel Ferrara, Lou Reed, David Lynch and most recently Tom Green who had a great interview show back in 2014 on AXSTV. It's a hard thing to put into words, but a way to say it is that if I saw someone doing something that I'd already thought of I wouldn't feel 'original' following through with it. It sounds a bit far out but there are things I've written that I later found out were also written or said by other people. This isn't the place for politics but you may remember I'd discussed free university many many years ago (among other things lol) which now seems to be a popular thing. That was just a thought I'd had at the time, not something I'd ever heard before. I also just had someone tell me last week that they ran into another online Carl Weathers, in WoW of all places lol. I gotta meet that person, they're probably my doppelganger!

Another way to put it is that once someone has done something similar to what I'm planning, my interest level for my own project falls to zero. My friend in England recommended a couple movies to me that I'm dying to see but I won't watch them until I'm done with my short movie project for fear of them already having done what I'm planning. Those movies are "The Idiots" and "Man Bites Dog". They seem pretty far off from my idea, but all it takes is one similarity to totally deflate me.

An interesting footnote to this is that my wife suggested that I write the cannabis book, which was like pulling teeth for me. Turns out it's the most successful book of the three! You can see why she earns the money now lol. I'm not good at making money, I'm just good at being me.

BTW if you or anyone else ever wants to self-publish a book, let me know and I can show you exactly how to make it happen. I recently helped my uncle publish his book "Lost in Dogpatch". I literally did everything except write it, it's real easy to do and he sells a ton of books.

I just got back to Tucson for the winter. I was in the Sierra's for the last year and a half working fulltime at O'Reilly's auto parts and working the days off at my friends office building remodeling it (3600 sq ft). So 7 days a week and ten hour days for a year and a half got to be too much.

I disagree Tien. Leigh and I spent several years depending on those services. Access to benefits are one of those things you don't notice until the system doesn't work, so thanks for all of your hard work behind the scenes!

Teleworking since last Tuesday. Lots of adjustments to make notably cooking a lot more, our family usually eats out way too often so now getting back into the groove of cooking... So far all healthy, still employed or enrolled, and shelter in place kicks in this afternoon. Got TP, got food, fingers crossed...

Home trying to get projects done without materials. Wife is still working, son is off this week for spring break and uncertain of how school is going to move forward next week. No info yet. Stay safe everyone and hopefully everyone has an income after this.

Yea. it's concerning when we can't see what we are dealing with until it gets someone.

I'm in the bay area in California in working in an healthcare organization so I still go to work everyday. To stay positive the commute to work is great with so little cars on the road.

Wash your hands and don't touch your face- stranger danger is real right now.
