As most of you know already, I'm waiting to get layed-off from my job. Everyone I work with knows it: all the engineers, the techs, bosses from other areas, my boss, and hopefully his boss too. My employer created a website connected to their lobby group, then urged all of us pawns to go there and make our voices heard! Mission accomplished: I made my voice heard on the issue of sequestration, and my voice said "if you saw what I see everyday in aerospace, you would cut defense without question'. That supposedly went to the President, Pelosi, Boner et al, so now even our country's great leaders know about my layoff request.

Unfortunately, my boss keeps telling me that I'm not gonna get layed-off unless something really drastic happens. Well, it appears that time is now.

Will the sequester hit my department? And if it does will they do me right, or will they force me to continue working as part of a skeleton crew? What will it take for *this guy* to get his layoff?

FYI, layoff gets me 11-12 weeks of severance pay, COBRA and unemployment. Quitting gets me nothing. I told my boss I'd rather get fired than quit, since I'd at least have a shot at unemployment. He told me I wasn't getting fired either.

I have also noticed that AC puts up a LOT of pics of him and his kids...but ZERO pics of his wife...is something afoot? Why the sudden interest in Thai cuisine? :?

...as for sequester...I will be looking forward to losing 20% of my pay...while the assholes in congress and the white house will be losing NOTHING!!! I HAVE let my feelings be known by every single one of these sacks o'shite.

If Carl wasn't so open to freaky stuff, I can see why she would be nice.

Every time I hate my job or the client I work with is in jeopardy, normally wish that I'd worked harder to get a government job because they are more secure. Not this week, and my client is a failing grocery store conglomerate.

Well if you want a job like mine, you'll have to pass the pre-employment screening questions:

1) Do you like to sleep at work?
2) When you make a mistake, do you typically blame someone else or accept responsibility?
3) Is it better to finish a project early, on-time, or late?
4) The company requires you to follow written procedures and documentation. If you encounter poor, missing, or incorrect documentation, should you continue working or stop and notify supervision?
5) Are you incompetent, and if so, will this affect your performance and the performance of those around you?

answer key (choose these and you're in!)
1) yes
2) blame someone else
3) both on-time and late are acceptable answers
4) continue working
5) yes, yes

My wife for her part spent a whole weekend a few weeks ago trying to convince me to quit haha. Now that's what I call support! Seriously though, my job really stresses me out. It feels like I've wasted the last two years of my life arguing with lazy-asses over the simplest shite. So that's it, I'm done trying to fix things, time to move on to something new.

I'll tell Mod about the compliments, she'll laugh

By the way, how did everyone fare today? I had to downsize a girl today, 17 years on the job, only place she's ever worked. She was THIS close to being fired for poor performance so tonight she is drunk I'M'ing me thanking her for laying her off instead of firing because now she gets her vacation payout, a small severance and unemployment. Apparently I'm "so nice".

BTW I have no idea who Milla is lol. Never seen her in my life.

Cool to hear that she's not pissed at least Tien. Gotta be rough to layoff or fire an employee and then have them pissed off at you, yikes.

My company had an all-hands meeting, company-wide, to announce some business sector consolidations today. Happened before I got in to work.

My boss came to me when I got in, gave me my formal hardcopy raise notification, and told me the meeting had no bearing whatsoever on our department and we won't be laying anyone off. I laughed, he laughed, and I told him that it's best for everyone there at least (which is true, I'm not wishing for good workers to get screwed).

I went to him later and told him, 'by the way I still want out, so if other departments downsize and guys want in here, I'm all for vacating my spot and letting them in." He looked at me really serious and told me that it's not gonna happen.

So now I have to move to stage two: voluntarily give up [the rest of] my clearance. That will make it much harder for them to find work for me when work gets thin. Might start taking every other Friday off too.

Wow. Either:
A) he really means that and isn't that sweet?
B) his wife was behind him as he typed
Or
C) someone really needs to check his pulse.

I think Wonder Woman has a little 5 o'clock shadow there under her arms...

Just kidding! Made you look...

And yes - Lynda Carter was quite the beauty. But would she look good in stringy orange hair with blonde roots?
