US Diplomat killed in libya was a major EVE Online player

Sean Smith was killed along with 3 others last night in Libya. It turns out he was a big time MMO gamer.

Vile Rat, legendary diplomat of GoonFleet, was killed last night when Libyans stormed the US Consulate in Benghazi.

EVE Online players will miss this player even if they have never heard of him or his terrible tattoo (image). His time in-game was spent maintaining the diplomatic ties all of the null sec corps have formed over the years. The stability that EVE Corporations have maintained since 2006 are in thanks in large part to his efforts.

He was even a diplomat in the game. Folks are petitioning CCP Games to create a permanent memorial for him in game.

That's pretty awesome, he was one of us in more ways then even we knew. RIP Sean.
