Every year there is at least one movie trailer that makes me think "I'm seeing that one in the theater for sure". This year it's Cloud Atlas; it looks really interesting!
I think that was probably part of the appeal for me, I felt the same way when I saw trailers for inception and the matrix... sort of a "I have no clue what just happened, but I want to know more!" kind of thing.
I picked the book up after watching the trailer, just need to find time to read it.
The fountain! I totally blanked on that one when I was trying to think of movies to compare the Cloud Atlas trailer to. Great movie, I'm going to have to watch that again now.

There are very few directors out there (for me) who hit on every film they make, but Darren Aronofsky is one of them (I think the only other one that makes a movie I know I will love EVERY time is Wes Anderson, who I absolutely just LOVE). The Fountain is such an amazingly deep film. I don't know what exactly it is about it...the acting, the cast, the concept...it's all just very perfect and I truly love the film.
I hope Cloud Atlas is the same way. It looks fantastic.
I just got finished reading the book. I was looking for a good book to read, so after watching the trailer I went out and picked it up. it's a pretty interesting read. I'd love to discuss it if anyone else has read it, but I don't want to give anything away here.
I picked it up, but haven't started reading it yet. School just started back up over here and unfortunately I'm up to my eyeballs in reading already. I am planning on plowing through it the first chance I get though.
