You guys see the tail of that chopper that had to be demo'd at the Bin Laden compound? Very intriguing stuff. I wonder if the thing went down from the cited 'mechanical difficulties' or if the pilot just hit the tail on landing?

I'm still amazed at the balls it took to order that mission...That's some serious business right there.

I'm impressed at the split second decision to destroy the helicopter, talk about training o_O

Haha actually I think it'd be pretty common not to leave assets in the hands of the enemy. And for something like SF gear, even something simple like the cockpit display would be off-limits so they gotta get rid of it. I'm surprised that they left the tail assembly intact for the Pakistanis. Guess it must have been too time-consuming to access and destroy it (looks like it was on the other side of the perimeter wall).

I wonder if they've given it back to us or if they're shopping that little gem around first?

from what i've read it wasn't the chopper that was so amazing (it is all existing technology, the coating of the skin, the angular plates to deflect radar) but the technology INSIDE that would be useful. that was all pulled out and evacuated or incinerated. this isn't the first prom dance for these guys, whatever got left behind relatively intact got left behind on purpose.
