Here is a link for a free system info tool that I use at work...similiar in many ways to sisoft sandra, only not as comprehensive, nor are there any testing tools. It is strictly for finding out more than you need to know about what hardware is used in your rig. It is called SysJewel.

http://www.download.com/SysJewel-System-Information-Tool/3000-2094_4-10503853.html?tag=lst-0-5

The more comprehensive tool mentioned above, here is the free version called Sandra Lite...it is free for personal use, which is why I don't use it at work...

http://www.download.com/SANDRA-Lite/3000-2086_4-10451861.html?tag=lst-0-1

...and the link to Sisoft if you want more info...

I've seen some of you mention traceroute, the first link on my list deals with wireshark a network protocal analyzer that puts traceroute to shame. It can tell you just about everything. The fact that it's made by CISCO doesn't hurt either (it could also be used to gather information to help you crack WEP encryption but you didn't hear that from me)

the second on my list deals with file, partition, and virtual drive encryption of amazing abilities, I store my tax records in an encrypted folder that has 3 layers of different types of 256bit encryption and uses a key file not on my computer to open:) I highly recomend it it's very user freindly and effective
