How does a full reformat work? No CD key for 10, or have to use the one for 7?

you cant do a clean install per say that we are all use to, but there is an option. settings>recovery> reset this pc and it will give 2 options similar to a quick format or full format and it will not prompt for a key as it holds onto the activation from the upgrade while deleting all other files

I did the upgrade to Windows 10 and was not happy. I purchased an ASUS ROG laptop about a month ago and it came with windows 8.1. i had no issues running Steam or any of my games in steam. Then I upgraded to 10, it was good for about a day. Then games started to lock up and if the game ran fine, i would lose audio. Giving 10 the benefit of the doubt. I checked and made sure all my drivers were up to date, they were. Also noticed boot time was much slower than 8.1. Another issue that would happen is after boot and windows came up, I would click on icons and nothing would happen. i couldn't even click restart, i would have to use Task Manger to do a restart. Then after rebooting, everything would work fine. Shouldn't have to boot my comp twice everytime i to use it.

I stuck with 10 for three days, I just reverted back to 8.1. I'll check out 10 in a few months when they get some bugs worked out. But for now it's 8.1 and i running solid with no issues.

BTW, if you do decide to do the upgrade and then later on decide to go back to your previous OS. Its a very simple task, BUT...after you have finished reverting back. Windows 10 will automatically download to your PC through Windows Update. Then ask if you want to install. Now every time i boot to windows it automatically starts windows update and starts downloading. Doesn't matter what setting you put for windows update to try and stop the download, it will show up every time you boot to windows. That's my experience with the new windows 10, that's getting forced on us. Maybe you'll have a better experience, but for me I'll wait.

sounds like you upgrade didn't install correctly, I know when I did the upgrade I then did the reset to do a clean install and then gran all the win 10 drivers separately . the only known major I have seen and heard about is the NVidia drivers that windows trying to install doesn't work right and you have disable the auto update and manually get the drivers from nvidia
