I used AVG for a long time, but the last few months it's caused a lot of other issues on my machine, especially trying to run games.

AVG has also been hijacking my web searches. It seems to have gotten much more invasive

avast still leading the way in the free AV market and in some cases better then some of the paid versions out there 2nd choice would be MSE
