What are your specs now Z? Some video cards have built-in overclock guis (though I've never personally overclocked). It'll be good for us to know a baseline.

I'm no expert here, but I'd say that no amount of ocing will fix the ram shortage, especially running win 7. Let's see what other guys have to say that are more in the know.

I'll see if i have any extra ram but pretty sure i don't. If so I'll just hook you up.

No worries Carl! Just wanted to see what are my options.

Continuing from your train of thought, would it make a huge difference if I added more ram (assuming I can transfer it to a new rig once I have the funds for it)? Perhaps I can even revert back to windows XP if that will make a difference.

Maybe all this is a good thing so I can focus on my work and less on TF2...

Yes I think it would make a big difference, bigger than if you overclocked. I think 2G of RAM is the minimum required for Win 7 to operate.

Less on TF2? NEVER!!!

None. DDR2 is twice the price of DD3 because it's out of production. Some of us probably have some of it just lying around from older builds.

Nope, factories just invest in the stuff that will make them money -- a.k.a. the new stuff...

it's worst than I thought everyone. I have DDR 1! My rig is too old for DDR2. LOL

However I did revert back to XP and it made a huge difference. Trouble is now I have the CD but I have no idea where my XP serial number yet... got 30 days to find it!

didn't DDR 1 come out like 10 years ago? My old computer that just collects dust in my family room I built 4 years ago even has DDR3 in it.

Second thought, I did pull a computer out of my storage that is probably 7 years old that I built, If I remember on my next day off, I'll gut it and see if there is anything you can use Z.

Oh and Z how much money you willing to spend? My "old" computer thats 5 years old is probably more up to date then your current.

Off the top of my head I know it has a core2 quad 6600 processor, dfi lanparty mobo, 4 gigs corsair xms ddr 3 ram, western digital caviar 120gb hd( don't know speed my guess 7200rpm), Nvidia gts 8800 OC video card, and a thermaltake power supply, my guess probably a 500 or 600watt. All inside a Antec 900 case.

I'll even toss in a 20in Sceptre 4ms response time monitor, saitek illuminated keyboard and razor mouse if the price is right champ :)

currently the computer has been reassign to my office so i wouldn't need to lug my laptop. (Gotta Love dropbox)

We happen to have a 600watt sitting around our house for some reason. It is a ATI Radeon 3000

Thank you for the offer Sethin, I recently realized that my rig is using original DDR ram. Yes, it is that ancient.
