So I got the okay to build a new desktop, been playing on the same laptop for over 3 years now and will probably not be able to play some of the upcoming games. Here are the 2 that I built, some constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Cyberpower Black Pearl $2,170 http://www.Cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1E4B1Y

Gamer Xtreme 4200 $2,037.00 http://www.Cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1E4B2D

I do get Windows free through my school so i am not worried about that (Only reason i added it in the 4200 was because of the Smart Response SSD that was added. I do plan on buying more memory and or seeing what i have on hand so i am not too concerned with that either, plus i think i can get it cheaper seperately. I left only 1 graphics card on the Black pearl due to a ~2k spending limit while if i go with that i will most likely upgrade to a second card in a couple months. Thanks in advance.

Ecterris

Hey Ect. I can't speak to the builds, but have you ordered something through Cyberpower in the past? A buddy of mine got a machine through them a few months ago and had a few issues and got severely jerked around by the customer service department. Could be an isolated incident, but FYI.

Your builds are cool, but I am wondering why the overkill on the power supply? You don't need to 1000... You did mention that you were wanting to upgrade to another graphics card for what I assume is for Crossfire support, but, keep in mind that nearly every new generation single card ends up outperforming older generation SLI/Crossfire. I would look into this on the cards you want and compare them to a single card solution. If you save a little in the Power Supply, you might be able to move up in graphics.

Lastly, have you parted out what you wanted on Newegg and considered building it yourself? For companies such as this you ARE being charged labor. If you built it yourself I am betting you would be able to get a better graphics card and save some money.

On the list of power supplies that one is actually the cheapest one, its on sale and its a free upgrade from the 800w. I have parted the whole thing down to every component and it was a difference of $100-$200 (and a few things i couldn't find, plus some things were outed). But they build the whole thing and setup everything inside. I have the whole list at home and the prices. Seemed like a pretty good deal, and there is a 3-year warranty.

edit. I have looked into the graphics card thing and its one of the things i came accross while doing research. Thats why i am leaning towards the six-core processor with the 1 graphics card.

I to agree i have heard many issue with their customer service and honoring their warranty, as for the build 2 major factors is they are putting in a generic 1000w psu and this is problably the most imprtant part cause not all 1000w psu are equal, some have active pfc which you want and some have more amps on the 12v rail which you video card runs off, and then there is the effecincy rating the higher the better and last just over all build quality. stick for corsair, thermal take, and antec and some of the ocz brands

As mentioned before Sli is a gimick. it is just a bling factor for people to waste money on because by the time you spend the extra money on a big enough psu,the 2nd card and and proper cooling you can buy 1 single higher end card that the majority of the time will out perform the sli set up of the 2 older cards

the 3rd thing is if you are not planing to over clock there is really no need for liquid cooling as air cooling so stock solution is just as good now a days.

if you like ill put a list together tomorrow that is cheaper or same price but will have just of parts if not better

That would be amazing, I haven't built my own computer in over 7 years. I would like to spend extra money on performance rather than bling, at least a few years without upgrading much. I have a little over $2000 to spend. But the less I spend the more I can spend on my new motorcycle, lol.

major differences in this build vs your black pearl is no liquid cooling, better hard drive that has 64mb of ram vs 32 and 5yr warranty, got the higher end power supply but slightly less wattage which is fine and got the corsair xms series of ram instead of the base corsair class and i did not include the keyboard or mouse

the extra savings you can upgrade to higher end video card or go after a after market cpu cooler or dedicated sound card(which is always better then onboard sound, if you dont need a large hard drive and are just looking for pure speed you can go the route if getting a SSD or a velociraptor drive. if you like the build but want to save even more money, removing the wireless adapter and the fan contoller display will save $60 more

Well I pulled the trigger, I went with newegg. Upgraded a few things, came out to be just a little more than I wanted but well worth it.

Newegg sends me a few promo's a week and I got a great deal on some RAM and i got a heatsink/fan for the processor. I went with 4 of:

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL

Item #: N82E16820231468

$59.99 (plus 15% off plus a 4GB micro SD card free with purchase) So i went with 4 sets. 32GB of RAM, probably overkill but will fill all the slots on the motherboard (have to read up more on it but something added to performance if you use all 8) and i got 4 X 4GB micro SD cards, lol. I had a total of $85 in promo codes and I think $60 in rebates to send in. shipping was only $44 so the promos paid for that and some.

just ne carefull with that ram and using a aftermarket heatsink, with the ram having a raised heatsink on it, it can sometimes be a tight fit

You can't go wrong with a Matrix build, I still have a couple running well that he helped me put together for BF2!
