So I've been looking for The Stick of Truth to buy it for the last two days, and it's sold out all over town. I'm about to give up and just order it from Amazon.

Forest ecology FTW!
Yki! I'm working with a gentleman from the Yamhill county soil and water conservation district who oversees the Miller Woods, a donated piece of land that is being used for ecological education projects. The land used to be a tree farm, and they are investigating different forest management plans by thinning some areas and mixing manual and natural regeneration to increase species diversity across the area.
For the research project portion of the class, I've designed a research project which involves running transects in two stands of Doug Fir, one which is being thinned and one that is not, both planted in 1971. In both stands, I'm going to run three transects, in order to obtain information on the trees and shrubs present, including species, height, and dbh (or basal if they're too small), as well as ground cover and point intercept along the transect line. In 5 years, the professor will send back another class to re-measure the area, to determine what (if any) differences occur between the thinned stand, and the one left as is.
There is a lot more to it than that obviously, as I have to do all sorts of stuff to make sure the people who come check it later can find the same exact location and trees, so I'll be tagging trees, taking compass headings, GPS coordinates, slope aspect, so on and so forth, but still, it's pretty cool!

So, South Park! Ahem, can't wait to play it!
