No luck here earlier either! From what I hear they have been on and off all day.

For those who haven't seen it, you can have the same D3 experience as most players, for free!

Top-down, isometric-ish perspective. You click the ground to move around, and you click on things until they die. After things get die, you click on other things, some of which make it take less clicks to kill other things. After you click on lots of things, the number of clicks it takes to kill things goes down automatically.

Diablo in a nutshell.

lol, earl pretty much nailed it, but that goes pretty much for all games.

it's a beautiful game, but probably not what you would be interested in, at least not from what I've seen so far. of course I've only played a total of 5 min, but yeah...

I doubt I would have bought the game, but since it came free with my wow subscription, I figured I'd give it a go when I'm not busy with other stuff. when I get time to actually play, I'll let you know what I think.

Same here - I have 4 guest passes and Bael has another 4, so if anyone is on the fence and didn't get a chance to try the beta, shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up with a guess pass.

No Realms to speak of. You can choose Asia, Americas, or Europe. It's pretty much load and go. Your Real Friends list will be available for grouping with people you know.

played about 30 mins - I'm distinctly "meh" about it. awesome $19 game, not awesome $60 game. I'll put some more time in, see if I like it better down the road.

Haha, there's basically a $20 version of Diablo coming out this summer:

I feel the same way so far, although friends of mine that are further into it (level 40) have assured me it's at least a $37 game.

I hated it at first as that camera angle thing drove me crazy. It took until level 18 that I realized I was having fun. Now I am level 35 and I love it. I made a wizard and she is a badass. I love running along and looting gold off the ground so much! I love that in 10 minutes or so you can make about 10k.

I have been grouping with Tyee and that made it more fun. I would rather play this than WoW at this point. I joined the public games one night and that was an instant que and just like when we do a 5 man or instant raid in WoW. I had a great run with nice people. (Probably a fluke. :) ) I like that you only have 4 buttons to click but you can put any of your spells on there and change them instantly for certain fights. You can keybind just like WoW btw so you don't notice the click style so much. Tyee said he likes his Barbarian better than his warrior on WoW too.

Now the bad part is that it's the same quests in the same zones with the same bosses at the end. However, because I always get lost running around in WoW I am still running around lost anyway and don't feel irritated by that yet. I do think I will get tired of the zones if they don't change that up. But I will never get tired of looting all that gold off the ground! Ching Ching!!!!

I would probably pay $60. for it but not if the new WoW expansion was out. I got the game for free though with that year commit thing with WoW.

I would definitely stress this point - once you get to the end of the game the first time through, you really start to see what your character is capable, and how much fun it can be trying different abilities, socketed with different runes, in various combinations. The game has an insane amount of replay as well. Once you make it through once, every creature gets new abilities, some of which you haven't even seen before on normal difficulty, and things like resistance to lightning/fire/frost become important, drastically changing the way you play and gear up your character.

I strongly recommend that you play through it once at least before you give up on it, and that you play it with friends - what seems like somewhat simple mechanics will get will get complicated later and much deeper later on, and all the loot that drops is yours alone, the server drops loot individually for each person - having other people along is not only fun, but it's cool comparing loot after a boss and passing stuff around to one another that you don't need.

So i rounded up some old xbox games and picked up Diablo 3 at gamestop this afternoon. Didnt get a whole lot of time in so far, Monk to level 7, havin fun with it. I really like the new map feature they included, i can remember in D2 going crazy on some levels cause i would get to the end of the zone and realize i left 50% of the level unmapped, new feature makes this a non issue... The interface does feel very WoWish, but why not go with what works.
