Title says it all. Beta is open already, and stays open until Monday the 23rd, at 10:00 am. All 5 classes are available for play up to level 13, and all you need to get in is a valid Battle.net account. For more info, visit - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/4963739 ... -4_19_2012

Right after I finished downloading it and posting this, my hard drive died >_< It was time to upgrade anyways, and an excuse to drive over to Fry's and buy a bunch of stuff I didn't need. I'll get on and mess around tomorrow probably, still trying to recover what I can off the old drive.

I got a beta key last weekend and have played the witch doctor and wizard as well. I agree - the WD is much more powerful, the wizard is as well, but I'm still working on the boss fight at the end - where with the WD it was a 1-shot... both at level 9

I dont really understand the hype for this game. It plays like Diablo sure but that isnt too exciting anymore. I will continue to play The Witcher 2 and have a blast

True Yeti, it's pretty old school, and so far I don't see anything great about it aside from some nice environment visuals (the human character models are not so good). I have a lvl 7 Witch Doctor and beat the beta with a lvl 10 Monk, and it was cool, but nothing amazing. I'll probably wait for a sale, as so far, I haven't read anything compelling about it.
As for the Witcher 2, that's barely in the same genre, so you mentioning that makes as much sense as me saying I'd rather play Dead Rising, or that somehow it's exclusively D3 or Witcher 2, when people can play both.

I just wanted to throw the name out there because I just picked it up. It is pretty great! Let's not derail though. I will probably pick up Max Payne 3 on the 15th and never get D3 because D2 was fine enough then

To be honest, I would have kept playing D2 for as long as they kept pushing new content for it. For me D3 is a shiny new version of D2, with some tweaks to take out some of the previous iterations short comings. Playing it felt a lot like catching up with an old friend; I'm having a blast so far.

I hope they add gamepad support in the final version. Blizzard actually talked about how D3 controls better with a gamepad, and for all the stuff you do, I believe it. Marvel Ultimate Alliance worked well, and Torchlight controlled just like Diablo on pc, yet when it went to XBLA, they revamped the controls to work on a gamepad. It just feels better to walk your guy around rather than clicking where to go. Gamepad apps like xpadder or joytokey don't cut it for a game like Diablo. Gotta have native support for directional movement. They should look at the control set up for Spiral Knights, which allows all sorts of controls to be set up for everyone's preferred style.
I'll wait for a sale.
