Specifically, the Mass Effect 3 demo, and multiplayer.

Now, I know lots of folks don't care about ME3 multi, but think of it as a free game mode with your purchase of ME3. Or in this case, a free game in your game demo. It's free, jesus.

If you haven't seen me, DANE, sneak, and some others in TF2 for the past few days, it's because we've been playing the ME3 demo's multiplayer, which is actually just a co-op wave based survival mode, like Gears of War's Horde mode. 10 waves, some randomness, leveling characters, character and ability customization, difficulties. Doesn't matter if you're all about ME's single player, this is fun!

Only problem is that you need Origin, but hey, ME3 won't be on Steam anyway since EA is trying to require all EA games be on Origin, so might as well get used to it (as much as I love Steam). Grab it here:

Eww, Origin. Well, I suppose there's no harm if I never buy anything off it.

That's my plan Earl...I buy the game elsewhere, Origin is just a free download.

For pc, will there be another option for ME3 though? Like BF3, I think it's on Origin only, at least for pc. I'd rather have it on pc than 360 or PS3, so I guess I'm stuck. No word as to whether ME3 will ever be on steam, but EA is being coy.

I'll wait for ME3 on steam unless too many folks have it on Origin already. After all, many felt the same about Valve's "Steam" service about 6 years ago until a game called Orange Box changed everything. Some people still consider Steam bad DRM and refuse to buy things on Steam.

Playing ME3 now...and all I can say is that it is amazing. Nostalgia, mystery, and a LOT of foreshadowing was done in the first 2 games. I can really see things coming together. There was already more than one surprise, and even more foreshadowing in this game that is making it nearly impossible to stop playing. Graphically the engine has been improved and everything looks polished...character models and textures specifically have been polished. It has been great so far seeing the same people as well as seeing the new members of the crew. Load times are nearly non-existent and this game's cut scenes are like watching a movie. All in all, I do NOT regret picking up the collector's edition at Gamestop.

My femshep was imported in, as in all her settings, class, powers, etc.. however, here face did not, and since I didn't write down the code for the face in ME2 and was too lazy to open that game up to find it out, I just went ahead and created a look-a-like by memory w/purple hair. I figured when she was stripped of command, she said eff it, and redid her hair and eyes. In this screenshot she is visiting a sick friend in the hospital.

Man, FemShep should be the default, rather than the douchey male Shep.

One thing that was cool about importing my characters, is that for every one of my finished characters (the 4 that I completed both games with) could be imported and it even listed which choice I had made in each of the games story changing decisions: as in Kaiden was KIA, Romanced Liara in ME1, Romanced no one in ME2. It made it easy to decide which character I wanted to run through ME3 first. I still have a character going through ME1 and redoing my first male Shep through ME2 again, as I want him to be true to Liara through both games. The very fact that you can romance characters makes me keep creating new characters to see what would happen. LOVE these games and really enjoying this 3rd one, and dammit, the choices are happening right from the get go...sigh...I can see multiple play throughs happening in the near future.
