The game seems like a really neat idea The alpha had its share of problems but it wasnt as bad as MechWarrior Online which has no tutorial or even a basic breakdown of what to expect. I know that MechWarrior carries the big name of Mech games but it would be nice with some guidance and a community that wasnt laying into you because you didnt get the pay to win weapons or know how to build your own mech in that ugly cumbersome interface. Hawkens interface is much nicer and has a basic tutorial to help you get the feel of how to jump, dash, and hover. It is very twitch action but still has strategy and team work like MechWarrior.
so I was on board with this game because Mechwarrior really let me down but now I am also let down by this because of all the micro-transaction crud. Everything becomes a big grind but people who spend money on the game get the better stuff easier. It was kind of expected being Free To Play but the grind is just annoying now
It's a bit steep, although it's still beta and maybe they'll adjust it. Regardless, I was vanilla recruit and still beating guys with level 20 mechs, so overall it doesn't matter that much except for options. They just need some form of trading and that could save it, similar to how TF2 is actually a bit of a grind for new, free players, but they can trade for any weapon from long-time players.
