Earl wrote: New stuff = Someone else playing. OBVIOUSLY. The point was that even YOU don't play anymore. You are just stopping by to see stuff someone made, alone, on the server, with no one else around. Because I can see how dead the server is. When you don't play for 6 months and someone has played for 4 hours, there will be something new. Doesn't make it very active.

for some reason my IP changed. Sorry! Hey, if anyone wants to host the server with a static IP, let me know. Earl said he could only connect when he didn't put in the port.
Current IP: 67.49.17.134

Im in the process of building a rail system in the nether, so when the 1.8 update hits, we'll have fast access to new, uninitialized areas.
Also, who's up for turning on monsters after 1.8?

Please don't open portals in the nether far away from the main area! Wait until 1.8 hits!
That was the whole point of building the rail system. The terrain generation algorithm will probably change, and we probably wont see villages or any of the new features in areas that have already been generated.

Hey folks, I'll update the server when I get home. I wonder if I can just remote desktop my way in...
edit: nope, I have Win 7 Home, not Business/Ultimate. I'll have to get something like logmein for the future.

Triple post!
1.8 Server is up.
Shall I just turn on monsters now, or wait for the proper adventure update, aka 1.9? No mercy for stuff going BOOM.

With 1.9 coming soon, to complete the adventure update, I would like to turn the server into a survival server, and really make it feel like survival by deopping everyone (basically so you can't use the "give" command anymore). Without that, you won't be tempted to.
Anyone strongly against this? I don't want to do anything to the current world, as everyone has worked hard on their stuff. I suppose in this time, you can go fill your chests with diamond tools and armor, but I don't really see the point in going halfway (enabling monsters, but letting everyone use endless server commands to just give themselves whatever they want). There's no point to survival if you can just give yourself the best armor and every material in endless supply.
I'm looking at admin mods (server wrappers) that can give us some admin ability back, in case we find a need for something like that, but really, no one needs any admin powers aside from adding a new player to the whitelist, and all the admin mods easily do that.
Give me your thoughts. I'm deopping everyone when 1.9 hits!
Terraria was/is a lot of fun, working up from nothing, mining ore, to be strong and powerful vs large enemies. But then again, Terraria was finished and released. Minecraft is in beta and lacks a lot compared to Terraria. MC is a lot more creative though, so even with added monsters in 1.8, the game has no real progression. Without that, does anyone want to bother with survival at all? Maybe someone else can just host a survival server (I can't host two servers from my IP, or can I...)

To commemorate my acceptance into this great group I had been making this little beauty in Gel's server. It is the floor of my cooling Tower 1. This first picture is from probably 60 blocks above, so yeah the area is pretty big. Radius of the circle is like 22-23 blocks. Attachment:
File comment: From the top of the tower.

And a little closer up with a texture pack on. Attachment:
File comment: Close up view with texture pack

So stop on by and check it out.

Haha, I saw this, but couldn't make out what it was. Didn't think to climb to the top of the tower.

Hey leadingrunner, that's an awesome logo you remade. There's only one problem. You walked a few dozen miles out and now I can't render anymore isometric maps. Here's an overhead map of the server because that's all I can render without crashing horribly. Your cooling towers are in the upper right. I might have to cut your section back into the world at a better place, to try to save what you've done. It's not good to walk out that far. I know you probably just wanted to be far from folks, or were just exploring, but if we can't render isometric maps, then we're also sad. Careful, it's 16MB! (right click and "save link as" is probably better than viewing it in your browser) http://www.girlshavecooties.com/minecra ... 110611.pngIn short, don't be a "furious."
